FIRST MIDDLE AND LAST NAME
Darcy Jane Taylor.

BIRTHDATE AND AGE
December 23, and I'm 28 (for now). Maybe I'll be 28 forever? One can only hope.

OCCUPATION
I recently got a big promotion to Food + Dining Editor at Seattle Magazine, so...I actually write and read about food for a living, which is only slightly amazing. (Kidding; it's disgustingly fantastic.) My older brother would be the first to tell you that I grew up with my nose in a book, so he was the only one who wasn't surprised when I combined my love of reading and writing with my love of all things food.

WHO DOES YOUR FAMILY CONSIST OF? HOW MANY SIBLINGS DO YOU HAVE?
My family is fairly small! And very much the American Dream family, I think. I have my mom and my dad and my older brother, Jack. I think my parents decided to stop at two since they had the perfect pair—a boy and a girl. But when I was younger, I used to wonder what it'd be like to be a big sister...but you know, that ship sailed a long time ago. I've got a lot of cousins, though, if that counts for anything.

WHAT KIND OF PETS DO YOU HAVE?
I have one cat, a Somali named Cinnamon. She's kind of a mess, but I love her anyway.

WHICH HAWTHORN NEIGHBORHOOD DO YOU LIVE IN?
Hawthorn Square.

DO YOU LIVE ALONE?
It's just me and Cin!

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?
Hm... Getting to sleep in, spending some much-needed tummy time with Cin in the morning, perusing the farmer's market on a Saturday, getting lost in a good book, a full glass of Pinot Noir, baking the perfect soufflé, going to the beach, curling up next to the fireplace when it gets cold outside. I'll take any combination of those things, please.

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP LIKE WITH YOUR PARENTS? IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, EXPLAIN.
As normal and typical as any relationship can be, I suppose. My dad calls me on the weekends and my mom always asks when I'll make time to visit them in California. They're getting older, which never fails to worry me, but they tend to remind me they're not as ancient and fragile as I believe them to be. They're good people, really.

WHAT DOES YOUR IDEAL WEEKEND OR DAY OFF LOOK LIKE?
Allow me to point you back up to my answer for my idea of perfect happiness. But in all actuality, if I get to spend a weekend or my day off doing nothing but reading on the front porch, I'd be content.

WHAT DO YOU REGRET MOST ABOUT YOUR TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL
I think I should have dated more in high school, or perhaps made more friends, or maybe even joined a few clubs. I was a little antisocial—well, a little more antisocial—when I was younger, and I think maybe having more friends or boyfriends or extracurricular activities might have helped.

WHAT WORD OR WORDS DO YOU OVERUSE THE MOST?
"Hm," "Well then," "Maybe if you just..." and my brother's favorite: "Shit."

WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU MOST RELATE TO AND WHY?

She also wears a lot of yellow.

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DIE?
I would like to be immortal, thank you. If I had to choose, I would like to bow out peacefully, comfortably, painlessly. Maybe in my own bed when I'm an old, fulfilled woman.
